About

CRATEive was set up in 2013 in London as a green and sustainable design project. We are re-purposing specialist art crates which finished their life cycle and, having travelled many miles to art fairs, galleries and clients around the world, came to retire in London.

Art crates are extremely solid structures made of high-quality materials, as they are designed to protect their valuable contents while being shipped to far-off places. CRATEive then turns them into inventive pieces of high-quality contemporary furniture. Although the amazing art that once inhabited these crates has long been delivered to its destination, the crates themselves have a similarly interesting history.

CRATEive works on every piece individually and carefully transforms each crate into a desirable piece of contemporary furniture. Every piece we make is handmade and absolutely unique. Our furniture are not only beautiful, but also very solid and functional. In helping to protect the environment by prolonging the cycle of life for wood and energy used to produce the crates, we are minimising the impact our studio has on the environment.

We've now expanded our product range to include plywood furniture from two new series CUTTING EDGE and simPLY as well as a series of smaller products such as sketchbooks, notebooks, wooden toys and plywood posters and postcards.

We accept commissions from commercial and private clients.
